San Cristobal de
las Casas The City of San Cristobal de las Casas still preserves the flavor of the old Colonial cities with its original architecture of quiet streets and lordly houses while, on the other hand, it still has the indigenous culture presence, that you can still see in the entire city. This place is a Colonial jewel of Mexico, due to its traditional architecture. It is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting urban areas in the country, because of red tile roofs, patios full of flowers, corner balconies and beautiful buildings of baroque facades, built between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Also, in this city you can observe
all kinds of magnificent handicrafts from the region, as well
as delicious food, the colorful market, but most of all there
are popular celebrations that attract most of the indigenous
population to this magnificent "mestiza" (mixture of
indigenous and Spanish) area. |
