Chihuahua The capital of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The city has numerous architectural attractions such as the Cathedral, built of pink quarry stone which lovely portal shows the first traces of the baroque style. The ancient center is surrounded by suburbs of magnificent nineteenth-century mansions in the best Gothic tradition. A must-see on most visitors' agendas is "Pancho Villa's Mansion" which is a 50-room mansion that was turned into a museum by his widow, Luz Corral de Villa. Chihuahua is the starting point for touring the famous Copper Canyons which are the biggest in North America, four times larger than the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Within the canyons are beautiful waterfalls, one of which is the highest in Mexico. Geologically young and very green and lush, Copper Canyon has a lot to offer: three ecosystems, with pine forests and cool alpine heights topping 8,000 feet to palm trees and orange groves at the bottom.
