CONDITIONS AND TERMS

IMPORTANT: All rates shown in our tariff sheets have to be re-confirmed at time of booking.

High and Low Season.

Peak Season: December 16th. thru April 15th. Off Season: April 16th. thru December 15th.

Please note Mexico City hotels have considerable higher rates during midweek days (Tuesday thru Thursday). Planning you tour to stay in Mexico City during week-ends may reduce costs and will facilitate securing adequate space.

Weather and clothing.

You may find all kind of weathers in a day in Mexico, depending where you travel. Basically, there is a “dry season” from October thru May and a “rainy season” for the rest of the year. A light top for dry season and a rain coat for rainy season are recommended. If your trip will be during November thru March and you include the Copper Canyon, you will need warm clothing. Packing a light top or sweater for cool evenings is a good advice.

Tipping.

Please note Mexican establishments do not include service charge in their bills. Consequently, waiters expect a tip. A 10% of the bill is acceptable in tourist class hotels and restaurants; personnel in  higher quality establishments however, expect a minimum of 15% gratuity. A guide expects about $2 US per day per person; a motorcoach driver about $1 US per day per person; a room attendant $1 US per day per room.

Time Zones.

Mexico City is 6 hours behind Greenwich Time. Midday in London is 6:00 A.M. in Mexico City. The Northwest, Chihuahua and Baja California are 8 hours behind. In Mexico, there is daylight saving time from April thru October.

Banking.

Banks are open for change from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., although some banks open until 5:00 P.M. or 7:00 P.M. Currency exchange bureaus are open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Hotels offer a currency exchange service around the clock, though normally at lower rates. Please note currencies other than US and Canadian dollars are not easily accepted.

Museum and Archaeological Zones.

Most museums and archaeological sites close on Mondays. We will make every effort to arrange itineraries so that important monuments included in the programs, may be visited, but we can not guarantee that all sites will be visited if traveling on Mondays.

Shopping.

In Mexico City shops are open continuously from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M., big department stores open late on weekends. Shopping centers open also on Sundays all day. In the beach resorts and small towns, stores close for “siesta”. The local CVI / ITC office can advise on location.

Business Hours.

Most businesses operate from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. For business transactions is always recommendable to arrange an appointment. Keep in mind the appointment will be on “Mexican Time”, which may not necessarily be the time you marked it.

CVI / ITC Office Hours.

Mexico City Headquarters is open Monday thru Friday from 08:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Saturdays from 09:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Branch offices open daily from 08:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

National Holidays.

January 1, February 5, March 21, Holy Thursday Thru Easter Sunday, May 1, September 16, November 20, December 12 and December 25.

Travel documents.

Every visitor must be in possession of proper travel documents to enter Mexico. Many nationalities are visa exempt; others are not. Please verify with the nearest Mexican Consulate.

Rates.

All rates are published in US Dollars and are subject to change without notice. Final rate is quoted at time of confirmation. Client has the option to accept or reject without any penalty. Hotels may increase their rates or demand a minimum number of nights stay during Christmas and Easter Holidays, as well as during National Holidays.

Responsibility.

CVI and or ITC acts solely as agent for the passenger in regard to travel, whether by car, boat, aircraft, motorcoach, or any other type of vehicle. It assumes no liability for injury, damage, lost, accident, or delay caused by act or omission, dangers of the sea or rivers, fire, breakdowns, labor strikes, acts of government --whatever their nature--, wars --declared or undeclared--, riots, civil disturbances, theft, vandalism, epidemics, quarantines, Government regulations or any cause beyond our control. The right is reserved to accept or reject any passenger as a member of any tour, should such passenger jeopardize in any way the proper operation of services. A full refund to the amount of unprovided services will be made to such passenger though his home agency.

CVI and or ITC reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any itinerary as may be fit for the security and/or comfort of passengers.

Baggage is carried at owners risk. Baggage insurance is recommended. The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers are not on board of their aircrafts or airport conveyance. The passage contract in use by the airlines, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airline and the purchaser of these tours and/or the passengers. The insurance of airlines' tickets and tour vouchers shall be deemed to be consent by the purchaser and/or passenger to above conditions.

LOST OR DAMAGED PROPERTY LIABILITY.

The liability of CVI and or ITC for baggage or property which becomes lost, destroyed or damaged while being transported shall be limited to a maximum of $250 USD per passenger unless a higher value, but not exceeding $600 USD, is declared and paid for by the passenger before the start of the trip.

BAGGAGE HAVING A DECLARED VALUE EXCEEDING $600 USD PER PASSENGER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Tour rates include:

-Transportation in late model cars, vans, minibuses or deluxe motorcoaches, in full modern comfort, escorted by professional tour guides. Seat-Basis services include English speaking escort. Private car basis includes English speaking guide.

-For groups, language other than English, will be quoted according with rates sheet.

-Meals as mentioned in each itinerary and according to rate sheet.

-Accommodation in rooms with private bath or shower, in hotels as mentioned in rate sheets or similar. Please note most Mexican hotels do not provide extra bed for triple rooms.

-Admission fees to museums and monuments visited.

-Baggage handling throughout for groups, at airports, terminals and hotels.

-Compulsory service charges in place of tips and Mexican IVA -value added tax- currently at 15%; except Quintana Roo, Baja California Peninsula & Border cities where IVA is currently 10%, plus 5% restaurant tax plus state hotel tax.

-Operator’s compensation for services, supervison, operation, promotion and profit.

Rates do not include:

-Meals, except as above mentioned.

-Admission fees to museums and monuments, except as above specified.

-Drinks and beverages, laundry, telephone calls, tips to guides, drivers and chambermaids, tips for services not included in the itinerary.

-Airport taxes nor airline fares.

-Any other expenses of mere personal nature.

-Anything not clearly specified above.

Tour Conductors.

One tour conductor will travel free of charge, in double room, for each 30 paying passengers; except for meals and admission fees, which must be paid direct by the tour conductor. There is a maximum of three tour conductors per group.

Children’s Rates.

Children under 12 are entitled to a 30% discount off published ground services rates and free hotel accommodation -maximum 1 child per adult per room-. No extra bed is provided.

Triple room accommodations.

Hotels in Mexico, as a rule, do not provide extra beds for triple rooms, nor are there natural “triple” rooms. Hotels offer large beds that must be shared by two of the clients travelling in triple basis.

Tubs in bathrooms are never guaranteed unless specifically requested and confirmed.

Special programs.

We will be happy to quote special services requested for individuals or groups. Hospitality desks at hotels, dine-around, Mexican Fiestas or receptions in private homes, technical visits, professional and counterpart seminars, special interest tours and anything you wish can be arranged and quoted upon request.

Payments.

A deposit of $50 US per person or a 15% of total value of services, whichever is greater, is due upon receipt of confirmation. Special hotel payments, cancellation and change policies will be advised at time of confirmation and must be adhered to if space is to be held. Full pre-payment is due 30 days prior to the commencement of services. We reserve the right to collect directly from clients if payment has not been received -- or to refuse services. All payments must be made in one of the two forms below:

A $20 USD fee must be added to your wire transfer total to cover bank charges.

 

Bookings not fully prepaid will not be honored.

Cancellations and refunds.

Written cancellations received 30 days prior to client’s arrival, are entitled to a full refund less actual expenses incurred. Cancellations received within 30 days will be assessed a 25% cancellation charge. The cancellation of hotel arrangements' subject to special policies, will be penalized according to the conditions stated at the time of confirmation. Services not previously cancelled, are not entitled to refund.

Changes and revisions.

A fee of $10 US per hotel will be assessed for every change or alteration requested after the original confirmation has been issued. Should the modification involve any hotel changes, the charges in addition to the above, will be subject to the hotel’s special policy as above stated.
